The introduction video played at the UKISUG’s main annual corporate event. The brief included having the logo exploded into fragments that reconnect together after an edit of existing video footage from previous years.
This concept was inspired by a lexus advert, whereby a car dissects and reforms into other mechanical designs. The concept is obviously ambitious on such a small budget, so certain plugins were used to help simplify the workload. The logo fragments were then rendered at various angles to match up with the video edit and then colour balanced to better fit into each corresponding shot.
Creating the 3d model of the logo so that it had an inner shell construction, and fragmented correctly took a few failed tests before the correct approach was discovered. Although the finished quality could have been higher using more dedicated 3d software, it simply would not have been achievable within the available time and budget. Therefore, the plugin used was essential to creating this video, and despite adding restrictions, made the animation much quicker to produce.
