Elasticat was built on a strict budget, and therefore we had to find a style that kept the labour time and costs down, but was still effective and engaging to the end users. The southpark style movements of the character involved careful planning, to make sure every required position had been designed correctly during the pre-production stage. The other challenge was to import the whole layout into 3d software to allow the cat to be correctly positioned, flying in and out of certain objects within the scene. This was achieved with our partners at Nymbl.

This project did involve some more traditional animation techniques, which can be strange to use in more automated software. However, the cartoony look was exactly what had been intended and the jumpy animation of the character did help to emphasise the extra fluidity and ease of the elasticat logo character.
